Novasell proposes to use an innovative technology designed to increase the safety of using electric vehicles by providing additional protection to their power supply system.

What we Do

Increase in the fireproofing

Thanks to our broad experience in fire retardant materials we developed revolutionary composite system for broad range of applications.

When exposed to temperatures above 200 0C, the material activates and swells, forming a thermally insulating structure with a thermal conductivity coefficient of 0.1-0.01 W/Km. The material is non-flammable and has a temperature degradation level of more than 1000 oC.  The composite thermally insulates the protected surface thereby reducing or completely eliminating the spread of fire in such phenomena as lithium-ion battery fires and other fire hazards in public-use vehicles. In addition, due to its unique chemical properties, the material has the ability to self-seal and in the event of an external puncture of the protected surface and subsequent fire, the damage is sealed within seconds. This is particularly applicable in the protection of lithium-ion battery fires where there is currently no solution to guarantee fire isolation in the event of external puncture. Moreover it significantly increases puncture, tensile and shrapnel resistance.

The innovative modification guarantees an increase in the fireproofing time of the battery casing, as well as increased protection against debris resulting from thermal runaway completely stopping the propagation of fire from one battery module to another thus preventing catastrophic failure of the battery module. Covering the walls between individual cells in the battery with composite will prevent the fire from spreading.  

Currently, we are developing of other materials to enhance the operational properties of the composite. The most important features under development are:

We do this by adding special nanomaterials to the formulation and using a specially designed mixing process in our labs. Moreover our works are supported by a deep understanding of the process on molecular level supporting the overall effect by the optical response of nanomaterials.
